What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus
Pass Plus is a training scheme for new drivers. Its aim is to improve your driving skills and make you a safer driver. It can also lead to insurance discounts.
The scheme has been designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), with the help of the motor insurance and driving instruction industries, to develop your skills and knowledge in areas where you may have limited experience.
- Enabling you to gain quality driving experience safely
- Helping you become a more skillful driver
- Teaching you how to develop a positive driving style which is both enjoyable and safe
- Reducing your chances of being involved in a road accident
- Saving you money on your car insurance premiums
Pass Plus consists of a minimum of 6 hours training and the emphasis is on developing your practical driving skills. There is no test at the end. Instead you'll be assessed throughout. All the modules must be completed to pass the course.
Cumbria Pass Plus +
If you live in Cumbria, are between the ages of 17 and 20 and have passed your driving test in the past 12 months, Cumbria County Council will fund £100 (correct as of 2012) of the Pass Plus course.
So there is no excuse for you not to do the course.
You will need to attend a Road Awarenes Training (RAT) session at your local fire station, at the end you will receive a voucher for you to give to your driving instructor.
