THEORY
TEST...
From 1996 everyone learning to drive has had to take and pass the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Theory Test before they can take their practical test.
And Since November 2002, it has also been necessary to pass the DSA's new Hazard Perception Test.
The
tests are held at various locations around the country.
Weekday,
evening and Saturday test sessions are available. Arrangements can be made
for candidates with special needs.
It is important that you study - not only to pass the test - but also to become a safe driver.
From September 3rd 2007, to pass the exam you must answer at least 43 out of 50 multiple-choice questions correctly.
You will be asked some specific questions regarding the category of vehicle being tested, as well as questions that apply to all road users.
The Hazard Perception Test section requires you to view 14 video clips on a computer screen and click a button to indicate when you identify a hazard.
The touch screen theory test has been specially designed to make the test more accessible to the general public. It is particularly helpful to people with special needs. All that you need to do is touch the screen to indicate which answer(s) you think are correct.
Once you have passed the test (both sections on the same test) you have up to two years to pass the practical test. If your Theory test certificate expires before you pass the practical test, then you will have to take the Theory test again.
Don't forget to keep reading your highway code after you pass. You will be amazed how much you can forget!!
